SERVICE CODE SC 542
How to reset service code SC 542 on most Ricoh copiers.
Service code SC 542 on most Ricoh copiers is a result of low temperature in the Fusing unit.
There are few reasons for this code:
- Low electric power supplied to the copier or boards
- Dirt/toner accumulation on the sensing elements (Thermistors) that makes it less sensitive.
- Defective/ lazy Thermistors
- Defective thermostats.
- Defective power supply.
- Poor contacts.
To reset this code, you can press the following keys in the sequence listed and within 5 seconds:
Clear Mode > 1 > 0 > 7 > Clear Stop (press and hold this last one for 3 seconds) until the screen change to Service Program (SP) mode. PLEASE DO NOT MAKE ANY CHANGES IN THE SERVICE MODE, YOU CAN DO MORE HARM THAN GOOD, ONLY CERTIFIED TECHNICIANS CAN MAKE CHANGES IN THIS MODE. Just switch the main power switch off (Orange rocker switch located on front door or left side of copier depending on module) wait 5 seconds then turn it back on. This should clear the service code.
If the copier DOES NOT RESET or it only worked for a short while then displayed a service code, PLEASE DO NOT RESET AGAIN, YOU HAVE A HARD FAILURE THAT CAN MAKE IT WORSE. CALL A CERTIFIED SERVICE TECH.
